4 Tips For Selecting Bachelorette Wine: Beginners' Guide

Wines & tips provided by Banfi.

My soon-to-be-sister-in-law’s bachelorette party is next week, so I’m putting together all of the activities that we’ll be doing – one of which is a wine tasting. This is the first time I’ve ever held a tasting, so if you’re like me and have never picked out a selection of wines for a crowd before and need some guidance, here are some of the tips I’ve picked up:

  • 1. Sit Down With The Bride. Make a list of her favorite wines and general taste preferences. Does she like her wine dry or sweet? What type of food would she like to pair with the wines?
  • 2. Decide How Much Wine You Will Need. According to Banfi, 1 bottle of wine will provide roughly 5 large glasses of wine; you’ll want to allow for a minimum of 3 glasses per person per 2-3 hour period. Once you have your guest list, you can crunch the numbers based on these estimations for an idea of how much wine to buy. My own rule of thumb is that it’s better to have extra than not enough, so I usually get a bit more food and drink that I anticipate needing.
  • 3. Consider The Weather & Setting. If it’s an outdoor summertime shindig, a variety of light white wines might be best; if the tasting preceeds an indoor dinner party, perhaps a nice selection of reds would be a good choice. The mood of the party can help you determine which wines would be most suitable.
  • 4. Think About Food. Decide which foods will best compliment your wine selection. For example, at my wine tasting, I’m pairing choices like Centine Bianco with Aceitunas a la Sevillana and Rosa Regale Brachetto d’Acqui with chocolates.

What are your tips for hosting a successful bachelorette wine tasting?

  1. i got so distracted at the thought of the yummy wine i forgot my tips.

really, my tip is always to keep her preferences in mind. they kept serving red wine at my bachelorette. i hate reds!

  2. I haven’t had a bachelorette wine tasting either, so if I need to host one I guess I know where to look. I think this would be fun for a general “girls night in” as well. 🙂
